Akil Piggott, PT, DPT, ACSM EP-C

Akil Piggott grew up in one of the athletic hubs of north Georgia where he was a 3 sport high school athlete. He ran track, played football, but excelled the most as a competitive powerlifter, winning the accolade of 4th strongest in the state of GA for his respective weight class. In college he ruptured his pectoralis muscle, introducing him to the world of physical therapy. After graduating from the University of Georgia with honors distinction, Akil attended Drexel University where he continued to push himself both physically and academically. He worked part time as a personal trainer while getting his Doctorate, and has been featured in Philly Fit Magazine for his training and participation as a physique competitor. After graduating with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy, Akil returned to Drexel and completed an Orthopaedic Residency for advanced training in evidence based practice and clinical decision making. He is now on track to be certified as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist. Akil brings a unique passion for fitness and rehabilitation to The Training Room and aims to help translate research into practice for all patients. In his free time, Akil is usually trying to find the “next best place” to eat in Philly, in addition to maintaining a consistent exercise routine for his continued participation in physique competitions.
